I am working with a leading law firm that is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee key financial functions within the firm's accounting department. Job Description

As the Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in managing the firm's international and intercompany accounting, treasury reporting, and various reconciliation processes. Your primary responsibilities include:
  • International and Intercompany Accounting: Oversee the accrual reporting for the Shanghai office and manage communications with external providers to ensure the accuracy of intercompany accounting. Prepare and present monthly intercompany reports and cash settlement recommendations.
  • Treasury and Cash Management: Monitor the firm's bank accounts and provide daily cash reporting, including recommendations for cash balance consolidation to ensure liquidity management.
  • Reconciliation and Vendor Management: Coordinate and prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely issue resolution. Oversee the preparation of U.S. bank reconciliations and collaborate with operational teams to resolve outstanding issues. Manage the vendor onboarding process, ensuring accuracy in the accounting system.
  • Policy Development and Process Improvement: Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to enhance internal controls and improve operational efficiency. Participate in the creation of policies like the Travel Policy and Meals & Entertainment approval processes.
  • Employee Welfare and Charitable Foundation Reporting: Oversee financial reporting for the firm's Employee Welfare Benefit Plan (VEBA) and Charitable Foundation, ensuring accurate recordkeeping and compliance.
  • Leadership and Staff Development: Manage and supervise the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure team effectiveness and adherence to firm policies.

The Successful Applicant
  • Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA is desirable). At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role, preferably within an AmLaw 50 law firm or a large professional services environment.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of both domestic and international accounting standards. Proficiency with accounting software such as Elite or Aderant is preferred. Excellent skills in MS Excel (including pivot tables, charts, and advanced formulas), as well as proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential for effectively managing a team and collaborating with various departments across the firm. The successful candidate will be proactive, able to lead with confidence, and have a diplomatic approach to handling sensitive financial matters.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Outstanding analytical abilities with a sharp eye for detail and a solid understanding of complex accounting and taxation principles. You will need to troubleshoot and resolve issues, providing strategic solutions to complex financial challenges.
  • Organizational and Managerial Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment. Strong organizational skills are required, along with the ability to mentor, train, and lead a team to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy.
