GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Staff professional responsible for a variety of accounting, auditing and financial related duties including recording of daily activity, processing monthly payments, preparation of journal entries, occasional processing of payroll, reconciliation of accounts, and assistance with preparation and monitoring of Clerk's monthly financial reporting and analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Process, reconcile, and submit Department of Revenue reports.
  2. Process and reconcile monthly payments to other agencies.
  3. Process and reconcile monthly clerk revenues.
  4. Research and process returned checks.
  5. Process municipal ordinance filing fees and non-prevailing party fee bills.
  6. Record and process bank transfers.
  7. Post payments received via ACH/Wire.
  8. Reconcile web payments.
  9. Calculate Title IV-D Invoice.
  10. Prepare journal entries.
  11. Preparation of payroll and payables as backup for Accounting Specialist III.
  12. Preparation of monthly benefits report.
  13. Assist with reports submitted to the CCOC and FCCC.
  14. Assist in the preparation of financial statements.
  15. Maintain a variety of spreadsheets.
  16. Answer telephone; provides information and assistance to callers.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned including problem solving and continuous process improvement.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Skill in the preparation of clear and precise financial reports.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with fellow employees and the general public.
  • Possess the initiative in identifying, documenting, researching, and resolving accounting issues and matters with appropriate oversight and supervision.
  • Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications such as MS Outlook, MS Word, and Excel is required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or university preferred.

Experience:
  • A minimum of one to three years of recent and relevant experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A valid Florida Driver's License or Florida Identification is required for the hiring process.
  • Acceptable completion of fingerprinting and criminal background check.
  • Requires certification as a Deputy Clerk.
