Job Description

A mechanical assembler is a manufacturing professional responsible for assembling mechanical components and parts into a finished product by following detailed blueprints, diagrams, and specifications, using hand tools and power tools to ensure proper fit and functionality within a production environment; key duties include reading and interpreting technical documents, aligning and positioning components, performing quality checks, and maintaining a clean workspace.

Required Skills

  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documents:

    Accurately understanding and following engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and work orders to assemble components correctly.
Component preparation:

Gathering and organizing necessary parts, verifying quantities, and ensuring components are in proper condition.

Assembly process:

Using hand tools like wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and power tools like drills, to accurately assemble mechanical components, including aligning, positioning, and fastening parts.

Quality control:

Performing thorough inspections on assembled components to identify any defects, misalignments, or quality issues, ensuring adherence to established standards.

Maintaining work area:

Keeping the assembly station clean, organized, and stocked with necessary tools and materials.

Following safety procedures:

Adhering to all safety guidelines and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working on the assembly line.

Required skills and qualifications:
  • Mechanical aptitude: Strong understanding of basic mechanical principles, including how parts fit together and function.
  • Manual dexterity: Precise hand-eye coordination and ability to work with small components.
  • Attention to detail: High level of accuracy and ability to identify even minor imperfections in assembly.
  • Blueprint reading skills: Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Basic math skills: Understanding measurements and calculations to ensure proper assembly
  • Teamwork: Collaborating effectively with other assembly team members to meet production goals.
Required Experience
  • 2-4 years work in a manufacturing environment
  • some welding/fabrication experience
  • high school diploma or GED desired
  • Assembly/Mechanical skills
  • Attention to Safety
