Job Description

Directly reporting to the Engineering Manager, with responsibility to the Corporate Senior Project Manager - Electrical, Automation & Data Systems, the OT Specialist will support operational process networks and systems for the Irving Tissue site. The position is responsible for ensuring the operational networks and systems are up-to-date, cyber-safe, stable, and compliant. In addition, responsibilities will include operational data systems (such as PI, PARCview, etc.) per the site requirements. The OT Specialist will be a self- starter with a "Can Do" attitude and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic, 24/7 work environment. Ongoing training will be required to keep current with technology.

Responsibilities

  1. Promote and maintain a safe work environment. Follow all safety policies and procedures. Adhere to OT policies created for the operation.
  2. Troubleshoot any production OT disturbances that may occur. Support/maintain site UPS and network systems. Have ability to restore from backup or perform backup when necessary.
  3. Onsite liaison with JDI IT for any OT cyber events. Provide education to on-floor staff on cybersecurity.
  4. Ensure Sentinel One Anti-Virus is up to date. Support and manage the Vulnerability Management (Tenable) console to ensure risks are acted upon. Under guidance from the Corporate Senior Project Manager - Electrical, Automation & Data Systems, perform annual vulnerability assessments and resulting remediation.
  5. Provide support for new product and technology introductions to the plant as well as for upgrades of OT Systems. Attend training for new equipment, troubleshooting, and replacement of OT equipment. Involvement in network project upgrades.
  6. Proactively identify and resolve issues to support and improve efficiency of the manufacturing OT controls. Lead/assist with root cause analyses related to OT failures.
  7. Manage the OT domain, including user management.
  8. Train and assist Electricians on configuring and changing network hardware. Assist Electricians to maintain PLC revisions to the latest firmware. Assist Electricians to ensure Factory Talk redundancy is active and in good order.
  9. Promote preventive and predictive maintenance program for PLCs, OT network and switches.
  10. Responsible to keep all documentation related to the OT network and systems up-to-date, accessible, and backed up. Create Preventive Maintenance plans in the CMMS for network performance and monitoring to achieve a successful program to ensure optimum performance. Manage OT system passwords using Password Manager Pro (or equivalent)
  11. Ensure OT Operating Systems are kept current with available patches. Manage and maintain the site's virtual infrastructure (servers and virtual machines). Provide support for PI, PI AF and PI Vision. Support the business by providing technical support to gather data from all levels of the OT system for higher level analyses.
  12. Maintain an inventory of all OT assets that can be compared to the Tenable inventory to ensure that a comprehensive inventory always exists. Interface and provide site point of contact for OT network and systems suppliers and support (JDI IT, Rockwell, Tenable, etc.).


Qualifications
  • Degree in networking, cyber security or equivalent preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in the electrical field in a manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Network experience is required
  • Experience in programming, instrumentation, and/or electronics is an asset
  • Familiarity with Rockwell Products such as Factory Talk servers, PLCs, switches, etc. is an asset
  • Familiarity with CMMS is an asset
  • Previous PLC experience, including installation and troubleshooting is an asset
  • Experience with network management
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Schedule is primarily Monday to Friday, but must be flexible to meet business needs
  • Some travel may be required to align with other Irving Tissue sites and for training
