Controls Systems Engineer career opportunity! Location: Richmond, VA (100% remote with local travel) Hourly Pay: ~ +/- $40--$50/hr (Negotiable, DOE), plus OT and reimbursed travel expenses As FTE: Estimated Salary Range: ~ +/- $80,000--$110,000 + Annual Bonuses (~ $4,000 - $8,000) + Relocation Package if needed Overview: Our client, a growing systems integration firm, is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their team in the Richmond, VA area. This role is full-time and contract-to-hire, with a transition to a permanent position within 6 months. The Systems Engineer will be instrumental in developing real-time automation controls and information solutions for client sites. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled engineer who thrives in remote work settings but enjoys being hands-on locally, with travel limited to the Richmond area. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and program real-time automation controls Program, debug, and test system configurations Develop project documentation, including engineering notes, design documentation, and case studies Commission solutions at client sites, identifying and implementing improvements Flexibility for up to 50% local travel (returning home daily) Required Qualifications: 3+ years of experience with PLC and PAC Programming (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Modicon, GE, etc) Experience with HMI platforms (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Wonderware, Schneider Electric, etc.) Proficiency with SCADA platforms (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Inductive Automation, GE, Siemens, etc.) Familiarity with Servo Motion Control (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Emerson, Omron, etc.) Preferred Qualifications: Industry experience in food and beverage, life sciences, water treatment, or manufacturing Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (e.g., Computer, Mechatronics, Electrical, or Engineering Technology) Why Join Us: Flexible Remote Work: Full-time remote with Richmond-based local travel Career Growth: Opportunity to advance to a permanent role within a supportive, project-focused team Competitive Pay & Bonuses: Attractive hourly rates, OT eligibility, and annual bonuses after direct hire Additional Details: Work Hours: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend hours depending on projects Overtime: Available on a project basis Work Attire: Business casual Background & Drug Screening: 7-year background check and 10-panel drug screen required before starting If you're a hands-on Systems Engineer with a stable job history and experience in PLC/PAC programming, apply today to join a team dedicated to delivering cutting-edge automation solutions for the Richmond area!
