Description
Greater Nashua Mental Health is looking for a full-time Peer Recovery Support Specialist to join our Substance Use Services Team! The Peer Recovery Support Specialist uses lived experience and training to provide education and coaching to assist clients in engaging in substance use disorder treatment and recovery activities. Provides a model for both staff and clients demonstrating that recovery is possible. Works collaboratively with the client, therapist, case manager, and other service providers to help the client achieve treatment and recovery-based goals. Flexibility in scheduling with some evening hours required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides outreach, encouragement, and coaching to clients to support their effective engagement in treatment and recovery efforts within ethical guidelines of CRSW (whether certified or not).
- Provides education on recovery for clients in every phase of the recovery journey from treatment initiation, early abstinence, maintenance of abstinence, and advanced recovery.
- Serves as a resource for staff and clients for information about community-based groups, activities, events, and services that support recovery efforts.
- Assists clients to assess their recovery capital and develop their own goals to enhance their recovery capital such as developing recovery-oriented skills or strengthening community connections using a strength-based approach and within professional boundaries of GNMH.
- Coaches clients to explore strategies to support their recovery through self-directed and community supported recovery supports and activities such as mutual self-help groups, cultural or recreational activities, or vocational activities.
- Provides peer recovery support services to recoverees in person, by phone, and/or the community setting both one-on-one and in group formats.
- Works as part of an integrated team and communicates with colleagues, collateral contacts, supervisors, etc. regarding client care.
- Prepares for and attends all meetings as assigned by supervisor; meetings may include team meetings, community-based staff members' meeting, department meeting, individual supervision meetings, etc. Manages and responds to emails, voicemail, etc. in a timely and professional manner.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, preferred some college
- Recovery Coaching training, Completion of CCAR Training, CRSW certified preferred
- 1 to 2 years of related work experiences
- Familiarity with the Greater Nashua community including a strong knowledge of resources and services that support recovery.
- Ability to establish rapport with professionalism and strong boundaries.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and seek supervision when needed.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Email, Word, EXCEL)
