Process Engineer, General Assembly

As a Process Engineer you will implement, develop, and optimize processes that may include tool fixture selection, line layouts, ergonomic study, material presentation, as well as other relevant factors. You will interface heavily with the Production Team as well as all other support teams in Fremont to solve problems, improve manufacturability, and implement continual improvement. You will sustain products with cost reduction and yield improvements. In addition, the process engineer will work with quality to compile and evaluate data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Production Leadership, Teams Leads and associates to improve their overall work experience at Tesla
- Work cross-functionally with the Production Team, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Product Introduction and other teams to define, qualify, and track new processes and all associated work instructions, equipment, tools, materials, and training
- Successfully Launch any New Products that come on-line and partner with NPI, Industrial Engineering and the Pilot Team to guarantee a successful launch for Tesla
- Implement changes that improve Safety, Quality, Cost and Rate in your area of responsibility and be a voice for your team
- Utilize Lean Thinking and Lean Manufacturing tools and concepts such as value stream mapping, line balancing, and 5S to identify optimal process within the constraints of the existing production line
- Coordinate and lead trials in your area of responsibility and evaluate overall impact for Tesla and our customers
- Identify and maintain quarterly reduction plans on top constraints and top sources of MRB in your area of focus
- Lead Cost Savings Gemba walks, identify and reduce consumables and any off std costs that can be reduced.
- Generate, maintain and audit all process documentation in your areas and ensure process adherences
- Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
- Excellent team building, communication and interpersonal skills is a must
- Ability to work an on-site flexible schedule (Nights/Weekends/Holidays/Overtime) as the business requires
- Enjoys Problem Solving, critical thinking and has a tenacious drive for excellence
- Values Standards and on the floor Problem solving
- Ability to thrive in an ever-changing environment of changing priorities and can handle many high visibility projects at once
- Willingness to learn and grow and be open to trying new things
- Creative outcome thinker who can focus on the end state and not the just the tasks
- Previous Production experience is a plus, but not requires

$76,000 - $126,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
