Position Summary

A leading global supply chain management company of agriculture commodities for feed and fiber is seeking a self-motivated individual for a position in our Logistics team located in Richardson, TX. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking. This role will report to the Supply Chain Manager - US Cotton.

Position Responsibilities

Domestic and Export Logistics

  • Manage actual shipments-coordination, preparation, and execution of all domestic and export shipments
  • Carefully read and follow contracts, letter of credit and shipping instruction
  • Book space with ship lines
  • Schedule load dates with warehouses and trucking companies including export, domestic and transit loads
  • Sending shipping instruction to warehouses and truckers
  • Obtain and upload container/seal no into our system
  • Monitor ship lines, warehouses, truckers on actual performance; Verify arrival /no arrival of transit loads
  • Actively communicate with all service providers and follow up routinely
  • Manage service providers and their service
  • Choose service providers based on service quality, capability, and rate
  • Evaluate freight cost
  • Negotiate ocean, truck, warehouse new and/or better rate, either spot or contract, with ship lines, warehouses, and truckers
  • Recruit / screen new ship lines, warehouses, and truckers
  • Continuous monitor service provider qualification including but not limited to liability and/or cargo insurance, W9, DOT license, etc.
  • Ensure Warehouse is USDA compliance; secure phyto application for bales from those not USDA compliance warehouse
  • Split/combine shipment folders in the database and actual folders
  • Resolve problems quickly that are related to shipment requirement
Reports
  • Management reports for cost
  • Daily operation reports
  • Trucker Delivery vs. warehouse delivery vs. load-by date
  • Waiting for LC, SI, prepayment, and IP
Other Duties and/or Assignments
  • Innovate new traffic pattern
  • Domestic shipment full line service
  • Assist manager to sign contracts and amendment with ship line, warehouse, truckers
  • Properly maintain service contracts and amendment
  • Provide rate quotes to trader on potential new sales
  • Maintain ocean and truck rate in database
  • Maintain service provider paperwork up to date
  • Assisting manager to verify truck bills and ocean bills
  • Other duties and/or assignment from company and/or manager
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work efficiently, meeting strict deadlines in a team environment.
  • Organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Excellent computer skills in applications including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Excellent customer service skills along with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Motivated, independent, flexible, and willing to work in an ever-changing market and with any operational process that may present itself.
  • Previous cotton experience an advantage

Requirements
  • Three (3) years of experience in export, distribution, and related transportation
