As a Quality Control Asphalt Lab Technician you will be in charge pulling samples of crushed stone, aggregate, sand and gravel from stockpiles or mines and tests for conformance to specifications. Work closely with the senior quality control asphalt lab technician to learn about the different specification for roads being created.

Requirements:
  • Must be able to travel throughout Minnesota, North and South Dakota.
  • Regular, consistent attendance and regular overtime at all assigned job sites.
  • Valid Driver's License, preferably Class A.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Physical strength and endurance to perform all principal duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to obtain Minnesota, North and South Dakota testing certifications.
  • Ability to perform basic math and algebra functions such as calculating surface volumes, weights, variables and formulas.
  • Knowledge of various computer applications and software including MS Excel.
Responsibilities:
  • Collects samples of crushed stone, aggregate, sand and gravel from stockpiles or mines and tests for conformance to specifications.
  • Selects road construction samples at specified stages and runs tests.
  • Records results of samples using equipment such as ovens and molds to perform calculations to measure air voids, gradations and densities.
  • Records test data applying quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data and makes adjustments to materials.
  • Performs other tasks as needed.
  • Complies with Company Safety Program.
