What We Need
The Process Engineer is responsible for planning and implementing process optimization and improvement projects associated with the chemistry, equipment, programing, and technology used in the emulsion manufacturing at Mallard Creek. The Process Engineer applies engineering skills and experience to develop design parameters to allow evaluation and justification of equipment necessary for optimization and improvement of the process. This position also works in conjunction with the R&D Department in scale up of new products.

What you do: Our ideal teammate has work-related experience with the following
- Responsible for maintaining control of production recipes in Process Control and ERP Systems.
- Responsible for monitoring daily production and adjusting recipes to maintain products within specifications with consultation from Research and Development and Technical Service.
- Investigates individually and/or leads multifunctional teams in investigating and troubleshooting process deviations, solving the problem, and recommending and/or implementing corrective actions as appropriate to prevent recurrence.
- Assists Project Engineer in developing justification for preparation of capital request or requests for engineering or technical assistance.
- Responsible for the design, estimation, and implementation of process capital projects.
- Recommends and may coordinate implementation of process changes to effect cost reductions, yield improvement, and quality improvements with the goal of continuous improvement.
- Evaluates the utilization of materials, manpower and equipment for optimum efficiency and productivity, with lowest cost for existing and proposed installations.
- Conducts process improvements and yield study analysis.
- Participates in and may lead programs relating to process control, process development, operator training and others as assigned.
- Reviews process recipes as received for scale up for accuracy and manufacturability.
- Assists in coordination of scale up and optimization of new and existing products.
- Evaluates the need for and implementation of process control computer program changes.
- Assists in preparation of the capital budget.
- Participates and leads EHS and PSM initiatives such as PSI development, PHA reviews, Operating Procedures development and maintenance, Training, PSSR's, SHE reviews, MOC, and Accident Investigations.
- Leads efforts related to PSI, PHA, Operating Procedures
- Conduct special data analysis projects as requested by management
- Lead and manage process improvement projects as part of our Continuous Improvement culture.

Work Location & Hours
- Plant location| Morehead Road, Charlotte NC 28262
- Monday-Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM
- Overtime as needed
- Minimum of B.S. in Chemical Engineering is required
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification highly preferred
- 5+ years of chemical manufacturing experience in batch organic chemical or emulsion polymerization environment is preferred
- Proficient working experience with process control PLCs and batch programming language is required.
- Analytical ability to review processes that will lead to improvement
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
- High energy level, goal-oriented, self-starter with willingness to think "outside the box"
- Willingness to accept ideas/suggestions from others
