**Requiring managing a team of 5 grant accountants Position Summary:

The Senior Grant Accounting Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of accounting related to grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements. This individual will play a key role in budgeting, reporting, and financial oversight of grant-funded projects, while ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and the integrity of financial data. The Senior Grant Accounting Manager will work closely with program managers, auditors, and stakeholders to ensure the efficient and effective use of grant funds.

Key Responsibilities: Grant Accounting Oversight: Manage the accounting for all grant funds, including ensuring proper allocation of expenses according to grant agreements. Monitor and track grant budgets and expenditures, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and internal policies. Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations related to grants. Ensure the accurate recording of grant revenue and expenses in compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit internal and external financial reports for grants, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Oversee the preparation of financial statements for grant-funded projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., OMB A-133, 2 CFR Part 200). Provide grant financial reports to funders as required, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of budgets for new grants, providing input on financial projections and assisting with financial planning. Prepare forecasts for grant funds and related expenditures to support effective fund management. Work closely with grant managers and department heads to ensure proper budgeting and spending on grant programs.

Compliance and Auditing: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations governing grants, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200). Prepare for and support internal and external audits of grant-funded programs, addressing audit findings and recommendations as needed. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant changes in grant-related accounting standards and regulations.

Staff Leadership and Development: Supervise and mentor junior staff members within the grant accounting team, fostering their professional development and ensuring high performance. Lead training and provide guidance on best practices for grant accounting and compliance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the grants management team, program managers, and other departments to ensure smooth coordination and accurate reporting of grant activities. Participate in meetings with funders, auditors, and stakeholders to provide financial insights and resolve any accounting-related issues.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree in a relevant field or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CGMA) is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in grant accounting, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, particularly in the area of grant funding (federal, state, and private grants). Experience with compliance regulations such as Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and OMB Circulars. Proven ability to manage complex budgets, multiple grants, and financial reporting.

Skills: Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

the individual's skill sets, experience and training; licensure and certification requirements; office location and other geographic considerations; other business and organizational needs.

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
