What You Will Do: This position is within the water-cooled chiller product engineering team. We are seeking a senior engineer to work on chiller PLC control solutions for both new product and chiller retrofit opportunities.
The role would focus on both software and hardware solutions for chiller PLC products.
As Senior Engineer within our Chillers product development team, you will be responsible for electrical analysis, detailed design, and control, as well as overall electrical performance of sophisticated water-cooled chillers components and systems, including providing support to manufacturing and applications engineering. In this role you will work on control systems for new industrial chiller applications as well as retrofits, hardware design, design test and sustain control panels and system wiring.
How You Will Do It: Develop and maintain electronic hardware and software (temperature sensors, pressure sensors, flow sensors, and A-B software) .
Design of analog and digital interface circuits, development of power supply circuits and/or selection of power supplies.
Perform the worst-case circuit analysis and incorporation of appropriate reliability principles to ensure reliable operation over the environmental specifications.
Assist chiller team to develop, test and support chiller system controls (This includes selection of system components and accurate interfacing of them to electronic control panel I/O).
Acquire agency approvals such as UL, CE and FCC on Printed Circuit boards and Electronic Panels.
Independently conduct and apply costing analysis to feasibility studies on proposed designs or modifications to existing designs.
Develop schedules which accurately reflect the project breakthroughs and implement to them.
Integrate new and modify existing processes to cover all phases of the electronic development process.
Provide mentorship and support to:
Drafters and Designers
Service and Field Technicians
Manufacturing on Commercial Systems products.
Provide mentorship to drafters and support Service and Manufacturing on Commercial Systems products.
Prepares and participates in design reviews.
Learns and applies regulatory codes such as UL, NEC, CSA, and CE codes.
Proficient at capturing and analyzing test data to identify electrical performance problems and propose solutions for corrections.
What We Look For: Required BSEE, BSEET, BSEMET, or related field
Preferred candidate to have 5 years of valid experience with one or more of the following.
PLC programming and troubleshooting.
HVAC systems and controls.
Automation control systems.
Electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting (24VDC, 120VAC, & 240VAC).
Ability to work in a fast-paced, schedule driven, team-oriented environment.
Ability to program and debug PLC programs.
Ability to identify obsolete parts for PLCs, HMIs, Network switches and protocol translators for customer upgrades.
Provides secondary level product support to the field after product technical support resources are exhausted for PLC applications.
Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and Rockwell software (rslinx, FactoryTalk, Studo5000, Activation Manager, etc.).
Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 10% of time).
Preferred Understands chiller controls.
Familiarity with HVAC Systems and motor driven mechanical engineering design and test, alternative experience with gas compression would be advantageous.
Chiller PLC experience.
