As an Electrical Engineer II at Johnson Controls, you will serve as a technical expert in the Power Electronics Department, focusing on the design, testing, and maintenance of power electronics products for chiller applications. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to define design specifications, create compliance procedures, and conduct feasibility studies, while also acting as the technical lead on troubleshooting issues. A master's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Electronics and relevant experience is required for this fast-paced and dynamic role.
What you will do Serve as technical expert within Power Electronics Department that is responsible to design, test, and maintain power electronics products and systems for Johnson Controls’ chiller applications.
Determine the best techniques, procedures and/or theories as they apply to the development of power electronics products and systems.
Create compliance procedures for the development of electrical/electronic circuitry designs.
Define and interpret design specifications; design electrical/electronic circuitry to meet specified requirements; and analyzes product design requirements and recommend solutions.
Prepare and coordinates the release of documentation to support component design and manufacturing.
Participate in all aspects of preliminary design and systems architecture, and conducts analysis of the cost impacts of proposed modifications, upgrades, and new implementations of application software.
Conduct feasibility studies and systems analysis for new applications or major modifications of existing systems.
Work with other engineers, designers, and technicians on specific work assignments.
Forecast and schedule work activities, and defines processes for repetitive tasks.
Act as the technical lead for troubleshooting field and factory issues on the range of power electronics products and systems on Johnson Controls’ chillers.
Travel to visit customers, Johnson Controls’ factories, vendors, and/or professional conferences as business needs

What we look for Required Master degree on Electrical Engineering with specialization on Power Electronics
3-6 years of experience in the field of power electronics or electrical engineering
Preferred Ph.D. degree with focus in Power Electronics
Strong experience on power electronics controls
Strong experience on IGBT based inverters
Strong experience on advanced tools such as Matlab/Simulink, OPAL-RT, Saber
