ECS is seeking a Systems Engineer with Linux experience to work as a member of a team managing and maintaining a Mission Partner network enclave in support of the DoD community. The Systems Engineer will work as part of a team to design, implement, and maintain the enclaves' physical and virtual infrastructure. The candidate will support a program team responsible for designing, developing, installing, documenting, managing, and maintaining the associated physical and virtual infrastructure. The candidate will work in a demanding, high-energy environment that requires innovative solutions to network, hardware, software, and operational challenges. The candidate will report directly to the Project Manager. The candidate will work in a hybrid onsite/remote capacity (2-3 days/week in office) in the ECS Corporate office located in Fairfax, VA.

Roles and Responsibilities: • Install, configure, maintain, update, manage, and refine information systems. • Ensure system components maintain compliance with DoD requirements. • Examine enclave vulnerabilities and determine actions to mitigate them. • Coordinate and/or provide support for all enclave applications and operations. • Support out-of-band patching and upgrades; which may require non-standard working hours. • Recommend, schedule, and/or implement repairs within the enclave environment. • Develop and maintain images for virtual desktops and servers. • Evaluate system performance and make appropriate recommendations. • Schedule and perform backups on all enclave systems. • Conduct functional, interoperability, and security testing. • Analyze system performance for potential security problems. • Participate in technical incident response and security assessment activities. • Support the development of cyber security policies, procedures, and standards. • Provide knowledge transfer to team members and clients as needed. • Travel to data centers as needed for maintenance. • Architect, design, implement, and maintain Cloud solutions and new capabilities in AWS and/or Azure. • Leverage a variety of automation, instance, and/or container, orchestration, security, and native/non-native Cloud services for large DoD program(s). • Assist in partner network integration, testing, and monitoring.

• U.S. Citizenship required per contract with an Active Secret security clearance, with the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance, if required. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; Information Systems Management; or similar Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline • 3+ years of relevant, hands-on, professional experience • DoD IAT Level II certification (1 of the following): CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, CND, SSCP. • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting/configuring Linux Operating systems (CentOS/RHEL and Ubuntu). • Experience working with AWS Cloud services and technologies including EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, VPC, and IAM or Azure Cloud services including VM, Storage account, RDS, AKS, VNet, and Entra ID. • Proficiency in supporting Linux and Windows endpoint operating systems. • Experience with Cloud networking, and troubleshooting Cloud networking environments (IP networking, DNS, VPN, Gateway, and load balancing). • A solid understanding of firewalls, NAT, SSL/TLS, etc. • Working knowledge of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for server, client, and application hardening. • Hands-on experience configuring and implementing backup procedures and policies. • Demonstrated ability to understand the system and its environment of operation. • Hands-on technical knowledge and capabilities, including: o Linux engineering (bash scripting, performance tuning) o Backup software (configuring, troubleshooting) o Networking (subnetting, planning) o DoD ACAS, HBSS, and SCAP. • Experience troubleshooting/implementing OS and application-level STIG compliance. • Understanding of network-level configuration and security, including firewalls, switches, and VPNs. • Ability to interface with all staff levels (peers, end-users, customers, executive management). • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. • Demonstrated ability to expertly balance multiple, competing priorities and execute accordingly.
