We are currently looking for a full-time Assistant/ Associate/ Professor in Physician Assistant Education. The Assistant/ Associate/ Professor will be responsible for teaching within the clinical sciences (e.g. Clinical Medicine, Patient History and Physical Examination, Clinical Laboratory Medicine, Clinical Problem Solving, Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapeutics, Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences etc.) based on expertise within the Physician Assistant Program. The selected candidate will develop and teach professional courses in their area of interest and expertise, serve as advisor to Physician Assistant students, provide service to the department, the College, the profession, and community and initiate and pursue scholarly activity in the clinical sciences or scholarship of teaching and learning. This is a non-tenure position.
Hours for this position will be 8 am- 5 pm 4 days a week and 1 clinical release day per week
Responsibilities of the position include:
* Teach in a Physician Assistant curriculum in both didactic and laboratory settings with assessment of learning. * Collaborate with the Director of Didactic Education and the Director of Clinical Education in the development, delivery and coordination of courses assigned in the curriculum of the Sullivan University Physician Assistant program in congruence with the ARC-PA Standards. * Service to the Department of PA Studies and College through committee work and leadership of course coordination, service to the profession at local, regional, and national levels, and participate in community service. * Actively conduct and contribute to scholarly pursuits * Support attainment of the College and Program's Mission and goals as outlined in the University, College, and Program's Strategic Plans. * Serves as a student advisor and provides tutorial aid and counseling for students, developing and providing remediation strategies and training as needed. * Participates in the accreditation process. * Participates in formative and summative program evaluation. * Participates in student selection, admission, and orientation. * Participates in campus and department events to include graduation, orientation, and so forth. * Release time for clinical practice if approved by program director. * Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the position include:
* Minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program; other comparable medical/medical education professional degrees will be considered (e.g. MD, DO). * Two years clinical experience. * Must hold NCCPA certification if applicable. * Licensed or eligible to be licensed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky if applicable. * Preferred teaching experience in higher education. * Excellent communication skills.
