HSB's SVP Head of Alternative Markets is a key member of the Custom Risk Solutions (CRS) Senior Leadership Team. Within the Alternative Markets organization, HSB provides Equipment Breakdown and Cyber, EPL and HSP/SL reinsurance solutions to 100+ client relationships with high risk Carriers, E&S Carriers, Pools and Lloyd’s. The Head of Alternative Markets has full accountability for the P&L and has to build and maintain strong relationships with the C-Suite of the Carriers. Responsible for developing and executing growth strategies, leveraging HSB’s unique capabilities in combination with customized reinsurance solutions for complex, specialty, and non-standard insurance carrier client companies. Works closely with other areas of HSB, specifically Portfolio Risk Solutions Division, Global Corporate Underwriting and Global Product Owner organizations to drive profitable growth of CRS Client Companies. Will identify and share opportunities and collaborate with key business partners and stakeholders to better position HSB to stay competitive in the marketplace as well as develop and evaluate new products. Responsible for leading and developing dedicated business development/client management, underwriting and operations staff to achieve financial goals. Maintains a high profile with key senior executives of clients and ensures staffing, planning and organizational development are optimized to ensure revenue goals are achieved, along with coordination among assigned distribution channel(s) as new opportunities are prioritized and pursued. Revenue planning, market strategy, forecasting and performance analysis are directed by the SVP, Head of Alternative Markets. Establishes and maintains a positive profile in the industry and with key executive counterparts at HSB client organizations. Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required. 10+ years of insurance industry experience. 10+ years of specialty insurance experience. 5+ years of experience leading a client facing business development team. 7+ years of experience in working with insurance carrier clients. 5+ years of building and leading successful growth strategies for at least one line of business. 3+ years of experience in developing comprehensive business cases to evaluate viability and determine key decisions for potential business endeavors. 5+ years' experience writing Treaty Reinsurance. Knowledge and Skills: Expert level knowledge of specialty insurance industry and distribution. Excellent Treaty reinsurance knowledge and ability to write Treaty reinsurance. Project management skills and ability to drive results. Demonstrated ability to build and manage business to business partnerships. Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with internal partners and stakeholders to serve external clients. Sophisticated client relationship management capabilities. Ability to influence others at every level both internally and externally and effectively present in a compelling way. Ability to be creative and position assigned revenue stream to succeed in a highly competitive environment. Collaborative team player. Experience in leading organizational change.
