Compensation Range:

$53,500.00 - $74,900.00

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Performs professional accounting work with responsibility in one or more areas of the University accounting system such as financial reporting, cost analysis and distribution, classification of accounts and funds, study of accounting systems and sponsored programs accounting. (Concentration on type and intensity of work performed varies according to functional areas integrally related to supervisory responsibilities).Responsibilities Summary: Creates tools to improve ability to manage department financial activities through use of programming and in depth understanding of financial and research administration. Researches, designs and build programs to efficiently and effectively manage the processes and functions of the finance office. Assists with preparation of operating and capital budgets, and performs financial reporting and analysis across all activities for the department. Maintains current knowledge of University policies to ensure adherence. Monitors fiscal position of the Department's chart of accounts. Specific Responsibilities: - Performs monthly analysis and maintains financial reports on all non-grant accounts. The department currently holds approximately 160 accounts related to professional medical accounts for hospital activities with Strong Memorial Hospital, Medical Faculty Group (MFG), educational activities in the School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD s, and professional activities with outside organizations. Identifies and troubleshoots financial issues during monthly reconciliation. Close out of accounts as necessary. Creation of new accounts as necessary. - Reconciles non-salary expenditures by reviewing University ledgers, Requests For Payment, Employee Expenses Reports and other supporting documentation. Reconciles checks, invoices & incentive payouts. Utilizes excel based shadow system for reconciliation process, in conjunction with Cognos (FRS)/UR Financials, HRMS, and other diagnostic tools. Audits, analyze and reconcile ledger accounts to confirm completeness and accuracy of data. Uses judgment as to whether account balances are reasonable; examines accounting documents to ascertain that transactions are properly supported in accordance with University policy and procedures. Creates ad hoc reports as necessary to understand and explain the financial activity of the Department. Initiate corrective action by preparing Journal Entries with proper supporting documentation in accordance to university policy. Filing ledgers, purchase orders and department agreements, archiving previous years files to storage - Prepares and distributes routine reports including consolidated division and department financial reports, personnel distribution, productivity and faculty compensation reports. Utilizes UR Financials, Tableau, Cognos, and other University systems as necessary to gather data for reporting. Develops new reports to target department strategic initiatives and financial objectives. Interprets trends and variances for reporting and to take corrective action or make recommendations on fiscal control to the Director of Finance and Program Administrator. - Assist Finance Director with the preparation of capital, operating budgets and endowment reports. Assists new administrators/AAs with UR financials processes as well as reports. - Updates various spreadsheets on an ad-hoc and routine basis relating to ledger activity and financial projections utilizing Cognos, UR Financials, etc. Process journal entries/expense transfers as needed. Produces and distributes outside agency invoices on a routine basis. Track and reconcile specific expenses as needed, such as outside rent leases, pharmacy and licenses. Helps with parking validation labels for the clinical and central departments. Develops a variety of spreadsheets on an ad-hoc basis; performs additional financial/accounting duties as needed. - Provides guidance and education to department personnel on financial policies and procedures including procurement and payment for goods and services, and allocation of costs. Assists with complex financial paperwork and invoicing for clinical contracts Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Required: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field - Three years of professional accounting experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred: - Strong analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail and value of data integrity. - Positive customer service attitude with strong communication skills, including written communications. - Shows initiative and resourcefulness in managing multiple priorities. - Takes responsibility for accomplishing their own work while maintaining confidentiality of information in a professional manner. - Microsoft Excel spreadsheet development experience. - Experience with UR financials and payroll procedures preferred.
