Operations Supervisor Job Description Operations Supervisor Operations Supervisor directs and coordinates the day-to-day activities of production to obtain optimum efficiency to meet customer expectations as well as maximize profits. Key member of production staff. Insures a safe working environment. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems. Confers with other supervisors, managers and leads to coordinate activities. Confers with quality assurance and engineering on specific production issues. Attends meetings as scheduled. Performs activities of workers supervised. Sets up machines and equipment. Issues written and oral instructions. Maintains harmony among workers and resolves concerns. Responsible for timely communication and documentation of potential personnel issues. Completes annual reviews of personnel. Maintains time and attendance records within computer database. Supports the values of the company and demonstrates ownership of key actions and initiatives. Supports the team in their learning and development. Recommends measures to improve productions methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Standardizes procedures and suggests changes in use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department or work crew. Knowledge of policy and procedures in the event of a Hazardous waste release, fire or explosion. Knowledge of the chemical characteristics and location of hazardous waste in the facility. Ability to shut down operations. Requisitions and maintains supplies for departments as needed. Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area. Performs other duties and assignments as directed. Skills & Qualifications Required Skills & Qualifications Good verbal communication skills - able to share information in-group settings and on a "one-to-one", explain things and answer questions both in person and by phone in a clear and understandable manner. Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision. Meet deadlines and manage numerous projects. Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with integrated ERP systems. Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints and mylars. Read and understand internal procedures and policies. Associates degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Five years manufacturing experience Experience in quality systems preferred Math Skills - decimals, percentages, fractions, ratios, proportions; geometry and trigonometry is a plus Knowledge of aerospace company specifications and practices highly preferred Supervisory experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred Work Environment Knowledge of policy and procedures in the event of a Hazardous waste release, fire or explosion. Knowledge of the chemical characteristics and location of hazardous waste in the facility. Ability to shut down operations. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to occasionally lift from 1 - 50 pounds. Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop; kneel; or crouch. Must be able to handle demands associated with a supervisory position. Working conditions are:30% office environment, 70% manufacturing environment. Noise level is moderate in office environment. Hearing protection must be worn in designated manufacturing areas. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high precarious places; and in outside weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold and extreme heat.
