Manufacturing Engineering Manager Job Description Manufacturing Engineering Manager The position oversees all manufacturing engineering aspects of the company, which are critical to the day-to-day functioning of the company. Excellent company culture – as recognized by Newsweek’s Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces Clean working environment Opportunity for career growth Great benefits including paid vacation and sick time, 401K match, Employee Stock Purchase Program, annual bonus plan, and tuition reimbursement Job Summary Leads, supervises and directs the manufacturing engineering team which includes tool design Provide leadership and direction in manufacturing in product flow, tooling and standard work procedures Provide input for manufacturability, direct and non-recurrent cost Provide leadership during technical information exchange with customers Provide implementation of manufacturing that is process dependent Develop and mature the manufacturing engineering culture and infrastructure for the company Demonstrated knowledge of the manufacturing engineering requirements with military and government programs Reviews and makes recommendations on policies and procedures to maximize department operating performance Team leader for cause and corrective action team, a cross-functional team that includes members from Quality and Manufacturing Engineering functions. Supports manufacturing and other departments as an internal customer. Other duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications Qualifications Computer proficient in the following: MS Office including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, Word, AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, and Inventor (or Solid works) Six Sigma, Lean Product development, Kaizen Activity are highly desirable Ability to lead a group of people in a constructive, productive and fair manner Ability to multi task Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars Strong analytical and communication skills Ability to drive relentless root cause analyses to gain from our mistakes Pleasant personality, must interact with all levels of personnel, customers and vendors Read and understand internal procedures and policies Overtime and weekend work as needed to support manufacturing Overnight travel as needed to support customer and manufacturing Ability to keep confidential information Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook Required Experience and Education Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering discipline or a technical field Experience and/or knowledge of Unigraphics CAD/CAM preferred Ten years experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment Management experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment Knowledge of aerospace company specifications and practices Experience in Design to Specification processes and Build to Print processes Experienced with line flow, standard work, tooling and LEAN manufacturing applications Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) experience MRP/ERP systems experience Demonstrated ability to effectively build, manage and lead a manufacturing engineering department Safety Work Environment Must have good finger dexterity – computer data entry. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus Must be able to communicate effectively Must be able to handle stress associated with management position Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch Must be able to occasionally move and/or lift from 1 – 50 pound Working conditions are: 50% office environment, 50% manufacturing environment Noise level is moderate in office environment Frequently works near moving mechanical parts Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold and extreme heat Hearing protection must be worn in designated manufacturing areas Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas. Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear.
