Summary:
The Department of Mechanical & Civil Engineering and Construction Management at Alabama A&M University invites applications for a faculty position in Mechanical Engineering. The tenure status of the position is negotiable based on qualifications.
The successful candidate will teach general and Mechanical Engineering courses as assigned by the Chair. The selected candidate must have a good knowledge of Materials Science, Solid Mechanics, and Thermal Sciences. A specialty in Automatic Control Systems and Analysis and Instrumentation of Physical Systems is preferred.
The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. The applicant must also have the qualifications and experience to teach various courses across the spectrum of the Mechanical Engineering curriculum, supervise senior design projects, develop mechanical engineering laboratories, conduct research, pursue external research funding, advise students, and serve on various university committees. Priority will be given to applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: laboratory development, Materials Science, Automatic Control Systems, Capstone design, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and success in securing extramural support.

The applicant must have a good knowledge of the general areas of Material Science, Control, Instrumentation, CAD, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Solid Mechanics, Manufacturing, and Propulsion. Additionally, the Mechanical Engineering program at Alabama A&M University offers BS and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Manufacturing, Propulsion, or General Mechanical Engineering. Qualified applicants must be proficient in teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses offered in these concentrations.

- Conduct research and secure external funding, publish research papers in scholarly journals, and conduct laboratory instruction.
- Advise students.
- Serve on departmental, school, and university committees.
- Participate in public service/professional activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
- Earned doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering or will earn doctorate by May 2025.
- A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferable.
