About the Role:

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Commercial Officer oversees Distribution, Co-production and Co-financing agreements, Acquisitions & Licensing, and Ancillary Revenue including merchandising and publishing. This role will own the strategy and execution of our first and second look deals and one-off project co-production and distribution deals including working closely with finance and legal teams to structure the right financing solutions for each deal. In partnership with the CMO, this role is responsible for strengthening franchise value and community loyalty through ancillary revenue streams. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and effective communicator who can inform and direct decisions using financial analysis, creative dealmaking and logical reasoning.

Location: Prefer Austin; Los Angeles is possible

Day to Day:

  • Lead and scale the Distribution, Co-Production / Co-Financing, Licensing, Ancillary Revenue and Customer Service teams at The Wonder Project.
  • Set and be held accountable for revenue and expense targets; be flexible and creative – finding ways to turn challenges into opportunities in order to stay on budget.
  • Develop appropriate objectives and metrics for success, and drive the team to achieve targets.
  • Embody a collaborative, creative, curious mindset to create new deal structures and business frameworks that support the changing dynamics of the industry.
  • Lead with an audience-first mentality in all business opportunities and partnerships.
  • Strong hiring manager and mentor with the ability to lead, develop and motivate staff.
  • Communicate company strategy and goals clearly internally, to our partners and to our investors.
  • Work closely with the CMO, CFO and Legal team to create best-in-class and first-of-their-kind partnerships to strengthen the financial position of The Wonder Project.

What you bring to the table:

  • At least 10 years of dealmaking and general manager experience (advanced knowledge of co-financing deal structuring highly preferred).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and rolling up sleeves to get the work done.
  • Respect and understanding of the The Wonder Project audience.
  • Experience raising production financing preferred.
  • Strong project management skills, including an ability to multitask, prioritize, and respond quickly within a rapidly changing environment.
  • Detail and results-oriented.
  • Strong leadership and business acumen.
  • Exceptional technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Impeccable personal and business ethics.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary + Bonus Range: $450,000-$600,000

Equity participation in management option pool (Series A company).
