Job Description Summary The Student Worker Assistant plays an important role in supporting the History & Political Science Department by completing customer service, clerical, special event and social media related duties. They will work collaboratively with a team of student workers led by the Department Manager to plan, create and publish social media campaigns and outreach related activities with the goal of increasing engagement between potential students, current students and alumni, and advancing department and university initiatives. Specific Duties Work with Department Manager to create and implement approved social media plan to maintain a consistent and thoughtful social media presence. Write stories to highlight faculty, current students and alumni for website and social media. Research possible internship, scholarship and job opportunities. Capture and edit photos and videos; create and curate short videos for Instagram Design flyers for events, internship, scholarship and job opportunities. Seek out and collaborate with department clubs and campus partners to create content. Track and review analytics on social media posts to assess success. Provide event planning and execution support; serve as ushers for lectures; oversee event check-in table. Run on-campus errands and deliveries. Understand and follow University of La Verne branding/copyright guidelines. Other duties as assigned by the Department Manager and/or Department Chair. Minimum Qualifications Responsible, detail-oriented and organized. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong functional knowledge of social media principles, practices, and the desire to apply that knowledge in a professional environment. Experience creating videos and posts for Instagram. Basic understanding of social trends and a willingness to explore. Excellent project management skills to consistently meet deadlines. Applicants must be currently enrolled at University of La Verne in a degree seeking program and, if hired, be enrolled in six credits or more each semester. Preferred Qualifications Experience with: Microsoft Office Suite Adobe Creative Cloud Canva Word Press Benefits Summary Employees are eligible for the following benefits: One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.
