Location : Alexandria, LA Schedule : Full-Time, Days Salary : $54,000 - $76,000 annually, with potential up to $40/hr for highly qualified candidates Relocation Assistance : Up to $7,000 on a case-by-case basis Sign-On Bonus : Considered on a case-by-case basis
Position Overview The Director of the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Program is responsible for overseeing the education and training of future medical laboratory scientists and phlebotomists. This position involves curriculum planning, teaching, accreditation compliance, and leadership within the MLS and Phlebotomy programs. Reporting directly to the Laboratory Director and Manager, this role is integral to maintaining the high standards of our nationally accredited educational programs.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee program organization, administration, curriculum planning, and continuous quality improvement.
Maintain NAACLS accreditation, ensuring compliance with educational standards and procedures.
Conduct lectures, coordinate clinical rotations, and manage the day-to-day operations of the MLS and Phlebotomy schools.
Collaborate with lab staff and supervisors to provide comprehensive education and bench training for students.
Engage in budgeting, evaluation, and strategic planning to support program sustainability and growth.
Qualifications
Education : Master’s or Doctoral degree, with a Bachelor’s in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field.
Certification : ASCP-BOC or ASCPi generalist certification required.
Licensure : Active Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.
Experience : Minimum of 3 years teaching experience and knowledge of NAACLS accreditation.
Preferred : Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology program and BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
Additional Details
Support System : Oversee School of MLS and Phlebotomy, supported by clinical staff for lab teaching.
Reporting Structure : Reports to the Laboratory Director and Laboratory Manager.
Program Size : Clinical Lab (37 FTEs) + Phlebotomy (22 FTEs) + MLS/Phleb Schools (1 FTE) + up to 10 students.
