OPHTHALMOLOGY (06650A) Department Name:
OPHTHALMOLOGY The Loyola University Health System (LUHS) and the Loyola University Chicago (LUC) Stritch School of Medicine in partnership with Hines VA Hospital (HVA) are offering a full-time faculty position on the clinical educator track (CET) for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Ophthalmologist. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong interest and prior commitment to clinical and/or basic science research. Candidates should have a history of outstanding clinical care and a strong academic commitment to the clinical training of residents and medical students. Cornea fellowship training is preferred. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with training and experience. Currently, the Loyola Department of Ophthalmology (Maywood and 4 additional satellite offices) and neighboring Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital manage over 65,000 patient visits per year. Currently, 42 clinical faculty (18 full-time and 24 part-time) provide strong mentorship and outstanding clinical expertise in all the subspecialties. A dedicated resident education team including the Program Director, the Vice Chair of Education, the Residency Coordinator and 2 co-Chief Residents manage the residency training program of four residents per year.
