Career Opportunities with Foreign Policy Foreign Policy’s finance department is seeking an experienced accountant to join the financial accounting and reporting team. As a part of this team, you will be responsible for monthly and annual general ledger close procedures with an emphasis on revenue recognition and expense reporting across the business. You will: Prepare monthly journal entries for revenue and expense accruals, variance-to-budget analyses for income statement accounts, month-over-month variance analyses for balance sheet accounts, and general ledger account reconciliations. Meet monthly and annual reporting deadlines, both internal and external. Collaborate with appropriate business counterparts’ teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of the data that flows to the general ledger. Prepare schedules and supporting data in conjunction with the issuance of annual financial statements and tax filings as requested. Prepare data and schedules for audit requests during interim and year-end audit cycles, supporting both external and internal audits. Prepare data and schedules in support of the annual budget and interim forecasts. Update and/or create documentation of processes and procedures to enhance the overall quality of journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, and financial reporting efforts. Prepare ad hoc financial analyses, participate in special projects, and perform other duties as assigned. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders. You have: A Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred. 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience. A demonstrated understanding of accounting and financial concepts. Clear and concise communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written. Advanced Excel skills. The ability to work effectively in a team environment. The ability to read and analyze financial reports. A love of details with demonstrated initiative in research and follow-through. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with Quickbooks (preferred). The salary range for this role is $80,000-$110,000. Final base salary will be determined by numerous factors, including relevant skills and experience.
