Position Overview:
We are looking for a Corporate Controller to join our team and oversee the financial operations of a growing real estate management firm. This full-time position is primarily in-person, with the possibility of occasional remote work. The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day accounting processes, supervise an offshore bookkeeping team, and collaborate with property managers and senior leadership. Expertise in Appfolio and experience with specialized financial projects are essential to ensure the efficient operation of our financial systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Supervise the offshore bookkeeping team to ensure timely and accurate financial data processing.
Work closely with property managers to support financial reporting, budgeting, and property-specific financial planning.
Partner with company leadership to provide valuable financial analysis and strategic insights.
Manage daily accounting tasks in Appfolio, ensuring all transactions are accurately documented.
Lead special financial projects, offering analytical support and reporting to drive company initiatives forward.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and maintain up-to-date, accurate financial records.
Develop and implement policies to strengthen financial controls and enhance operational efficiency.
Prepare regular financial statements and reports for internal stakeholders and external parties.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and offer strategic recommendations.
Oversee cash flow management, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
Reconcile bank accounts, conduct account analyses, and manage journal entries.
Handle accounts payable reporting and vendor payments processing.
Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely audits and tax filings.
Maintain open communication with company ownership and actively participate in company and community initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, ideally in property management or real estate.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance.
Proficiency with accounting software, particularly Appfolio.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Experience managing teams, especially offshore teams, is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
High integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential information.
Ability to manage multiple projects and solve complex financial issues simultaneously.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
