Using your focused technical knowledge, in direct coordination with our teams of experienced actuaries and underwriters, you will develop an excellent understanding of the diverse markets served by the North America Insurance Business Group at AXA XL. By digging deep into the business and providing forward-looking insights, you will have a direct impact on strategic business initiatives. Using market-leading analytical tools, you will ensure that approaches and trends in ratemaking, planning, and forecasting result in reserve adequacy across varied commercial lines of business. While each day and situation bring new challenges, our reserving actuaries effectively develop solutions to complex problems by taking ownership of the reserving process ensuring AXA XL can meet financial obligations. Through your reserving initiatives in multiple growth segments, you will be task-focused on providing insightful business intelligence, providing oversight on global reserving initiatives to enable AXA XL to react more quickly to emerging trends within the market. What will your essential responsibilities include? Reporting to the Deputy Chief Actuary and supporting ad-hoc profitability reviews, business planning, financial reporting, and any special projects. Responsible for Quarterly reporting packs and Regulatory submissions. Leading and being responsible for producing the analytics, exhibits, and reports for the appointed actuary work, with the support of the wider team. Developing quarterly reserve slide packs for presenting to the Americas and Reserving leadership teams. Developing actuarial valuations for new and evolving lines of business. Building effective relationships with key stakeholders/business partners in finance and underwriting by acting as a consultative business partner in influencing business decisions. Supporting strategic actuarial initiatives by providing in-depth timely, insightful, relevant, and reliable business intelligence. Reviewing actuarial reports and exhibits on business unit results to focus resources on emerging risk areas. Working directly with actuarial corporate and financial reporting teams around the globe. Staying abreast of current trends and changes in the functional areas that may impact the actuarial analysis. You will report to Deputy Chief Actuary. We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Extensive actuarial work experience within the property and casualty insurance or reinsurance industry. Experience managing one or more actuaries is preferred. Accredited Actuary from the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), or equivalent organization; candidates with a demonstrated history of exam success will be considered. Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Applied Math, Statistics, or related field. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external clients who have varying levels of actuarial knowledge. Demonstrated time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks. Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to work well within our collaborative team environment. Outstanding analytical and research skills with exposure to a variety of business productivity software. Outstanding Excel and Microsoft Office skills for data extraction, manipulation, reporting, documentation, and presentations. Exposure to VBA, SQL, or other business intelligence tools. Exposure to reserving methods and tools to structure, access, and manage data sets for modeling and managing risk. Preferred experience with ResQ, the industry-leading loss reserving system, or similar actuarial modeling software used for reserving, ratemaking, pricing, modeling, or data analysis. Ability to hit the ground running yet comfortable asking questions to develop business knowledge and effective solutions.
