Position Summary

The Director of Financeis a hands-on director of all things finance for the organization and provides oversight of human resources, program services and mortgage operations while ensuring best practices and compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory standards. This position oversees the financial health of HHFC by providing information and analysis as a basis for management decisions for the unique business segments: construction, retail and mortgage lending.

The Director of Finance and the accounting department are the “information hubs” of HHFC. Personnel interact and coordinate daily with advancement, construction, and family services, as well as taking care of the daily business operations. The Director of Finance is instrumental in helping management guide the affiliate’s expansion of operational decision-making.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Produce and distribute accurate and timely financial statements with supplemental analytical reports to the CEO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and directors of functional areas.

Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal control procedures by ensuring proper execution.

Organize, manage, and reconcile general ledger and supporting ledgers and schedules.

Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports to ensure compliance with various government, HHFI, and other outside agency reporting requirements.

Coordinate external audits and prepare the necessary documentation.

Manage the insurance coverage and needs of HHFC.

Provide oversight of HHFC’s retirement plan.

Provide oversight of neighborhood HOA’s accounting.

Prepare and maintain cash flow and operating and construction budgets.

Build and lead a strong accounting team.

Serve as backup for accounting assistant and human resources.

Serve as a qualified loan originator and lead the mortgage operations.

Responsible for the preparation of all other information as requested by management.

Requirements: Experience and Knowledge Requirements

Previous supervisory experience and a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university are required. Extensive proficiency in accounting and a considerable amount of multi-level managerial expertness will be beneficial in this role. A CPA is strongly preferred.

Must be an eager and enthusiastic individual with strong analytical, communication, and business management skills. A successful track record in implementing best practices and clear objectives. Proven ability to process and analyze large amounts of data while working under strict and simultaneous deadlines. Must be a meticulous leader, who provides effective direction to your team in an inclusive and inspiring environment.
