Overview of the United Soccer League (USL) The United Soccer League (USL) is the heartbeat of American soccer, impacting more than 200 communities across the United States. USL is the first and only soccer organization in the United States to build a youth-to-professional pathway for both men and women within one ecosystem, including three professional leagues: USL Super League (women), USL Championship (men), and USL League One (men); two pre-professional leagues: USL League Two (men) and the USL W League (women); and two youth platforms: USL Academy and USL Youth.

Position Purpose The Vice President, Partnerships - Club Performance Group serves as the partnership lead as part of USL’s Club Performance Group, focused on providing strategic consultative support to optimize team business performance. This role helps the USL strategically support its teams and serves as an internal consultant while interfacing with team leadership to understand their partnership-related needs and challenges by delivering solutions and strategies that leverage insights and data. This role will focus on short-term and long-term projects that will help teams drive local/regional/national revenues.

Duties and Responsibilities Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Serves as the Partnerships lead on all meetings with member teams in relation to the Club Performance Group (CPG).

Analyzes partnership sales data and performance metrics to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for revenue growth.

Serves as CPG liaison with other internal departments including but not limited to BIPS, Partnerships, and Marketing.

Leads the day-to-day relationship with third-party measurement partners.

Contributes to club sales efforts by researching, ideating, and delivering go-to-market strategies.

Provides strategic and independent recommendations regarding the presentation of data for CPG Partnership initiatives.

Analyzes asset valuations and club rate cards and provides insights to clubs with the purpose of maximizing revenue streams.

Manages and distributes projects to analysts.

Ensures project timelines are being met by analysts.

Conducts in-depth analysis of customer behavior, preferences, and purchasing habits to enhance fan engagement/revenue growth strategies.

Analyzes competitive and industry trends to identify market positioning and growth opportunities.

Monitors and evaluates the success of various partnership initiatives providing insights for optimization and aiding long-term financial health.

Assists in the design and execution of surveys and research to gather fan insights that are actionable for club’s partnerships departments.

Collaborates with other members of the Club Performance Group on matters of mutual interest to ensure all areas of profitability are covered in club responses.

Works closely with Club Performance Group leadership to map out a strategy that helps the Partnerships vertical of the Club Performance Group adapt and grow in accordance with USL growth and evolving needs of its clubs.

Qualifications

BA/BS degree in marketing, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience/combined education.

7+ years of professional experience selling sport sponsorships.

Supervisory experience leading and training a staff.

Must be detail-oriented with strong vendor management/project management skills.

An understanding and passion for the partnership process, from ideation to outreach to proposal/sale through effective servicing.

Experience in a service or consultative role is a plus.

Excellent understanding of how to use data as part of the sales process with comfort turning raw data into visual presentation.

Experience with partner measurement tools (broadcast + social) and experience turning measurement data into actionable reporting.

Excellent writing and presentation skills.

Intermediate working knowledge of HTML.

Strong project management and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail.

Self-starter who can work independently and within a cross-functional team.

Willingness to take on operations/execution as needed, in addition to strategy.

Full understanding of the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Strong verbal and communication skills, including the ability to influence and persuade others with diplomacy and tact; work with numerous partners of differing levels, flexing interaction style as required.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, member clubs, and external partners.

Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment.

Positive attitude and strong work ethic a must.

Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if/when necessary.

Must have U.S. work authorization.

Work Environment Based in Tampa, FL, USL Headquarters provides a vibrant and open working environment designed to promote collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and knowledge sharing. We believe in fostering a culture that encourages creativity, communication, and teamwork.

Currently, USL HQ operates on a hybrid work model. From Monday to Thursday, team members gather in person to harness the power of face-to-face collaboration. This not only strengthens the bonds within the team but also enhances communication and innovation. On Fridays, we transition to a remote work setup, providing our team with the flexibility to manage their tasks in an environment of their choosing.

Typical USL HQ hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm ET. Evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel may be necessary based on business demands.
