Tri Pointe Connect, the mortgage affiliate of Tri Pointe Homes, is looking for an experienced individual to join our talented group in Arizona as a Director of Credit Risk.
Highlights: Develop and oversee a sound credit risk program through implementation of policies and procedures to ensure high loan quality while mitigating risk in the lending process. Partner with outside agencies/investors and internal teams to ensure ongoing compliance and risk management.
Responsibilities:
Develop, communicate, and oversee execution of Credit Policy & Procedures in accordance with agency/investor guidelines and requirements.
Manage investor, agency, private mortgage insurance, and warehouse audit requests.
Oversee and communicate agency/investor credit policy changes including creating, implementing, and updating the organization.
Build strong agency and investor relationships to include performing the lead role on all applicable measures required to obtain expanded credit authority.
Oversee underwriting credit quality to include managing acceptable defect ratios for pre-funding and post-funding QC by identifying trends, developing procedures and/or training for prevention, and creating applicable oversight of risk-based procedures.
Formulate underwriting training as well as manage and oversee credit authority within the underwriting department.
Work with post-closing team on any potential repurchase or indemnification requests to include managing and tracking post-closing loan quality issues for trending and root cause analysis.
Manage agency and investor guideline updates to ensure any changes are appropriately documented within internal policies and procedures and communicated with applicable departments, including working with training on developing corresponding job aids or desk procedures.
Lead credit committee to include governance of regular meetings, providing guidance on allowable risk exceptions and tracking and monitoring of credit exceptions as allowed.
Perform additional credit-risk related responsibilities as identified through expansion of eligible products, agency and investor relationships, and other growth-related initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field.
10 or more years experience in mortgage credit risk.
8 or more years leadership experience in the mortgage industry.
Mortgage underwriting experience preferred.
New construction builder experience preferred.
Preferred Licenses/Certifications: FHA DE, VA LAPP/SAR, NMLS Safe Act Licensed.
Skills:
Expert knowledge of agency/investor/GSE guidelines including conventional, FHA, and VA.
In-depth mortgage regulatory knowledge including but not limited to ECOA, HMDA, RESPA, and other applicable federal or state-specific guidelines.
Highly skilled in Encompass Loan Origination Software.
Detailed knowledge of executing loans in a secondary market capacity.
Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and determine risks and develop policies and procedures to mitigate risk.
Strong ability to collaborate with internal team and external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies and investors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to all levels within the organization.
Demonstrated ability to assess, develop and implement training for internal team members.
Advanced analysis and problem resolution skills as it relates to audit requests and outcomes.
Physical Requirements:
May require after hours or overtime work according to business need.
Sedentary for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day.
Using fine motor skills for tasks requiring precision such as typing.
Visual acuity and hearing ability needed to conduct daily responsibilities.
