As a Cellular 5G/4G Firmware Verification Engineer, you will be at the center of the embedded 5G/4G/multimode cellular firmware effort within a silicon design group responsible for crafting and productizing groundbreaking cellular SoCs. This position requires someone comfortable in all aspects of embedded firmware verification, thrives in a multifaceted multi-functional organization, and is not afraid to debate ideas openly.
Description
This highly cross-functional role involves technical collaboration with other product development groups across Apple and 3rd-party wireless test equipment development and support engineers. You will push the industry boundaries of what wireless systems can do and improve the product experience for our customers across the world. The system under test includes the complete AP HW + iOS, cellular modem + RF HW + firmware/protocol stack/platform SW, with the test focus primarily on firmware. Verify key protocol features, signal processing and numerical algorithms with very tight time, latency and energy budgets.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum BS and 3+ years of relevant cellular modem test and log analysis industry experience.
Familiarity and understanding of 4G/5G 3GPP physical layer and protocol stack procedures and configurations.
Experience with firmware test case planning, design, and development for the 4G/5G functional scenarios.
Strong analysis and debugging capabilities to be able to define issues and work with firmware development and systems design teams to close issues.
Experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as Python, C/C++, Java.

Preferred Qualifications
Deep understanding of software engineering principles and core computer science fundamentals.
Experience with performance or RF scenarios for firmware test case planning, design, and development for the 4G/5G.
Fundamental facility with build and source code control tools.
Versatile to learn new architecture and frameworks.
Experience with network emulators, silicon prototyping, emulation systems, and virtual platforms considered a plus.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
