Do you want to have an impact on every single Apple product?As a Cellular Layer 1 Control Firmware Engineer in the L1S team, you will be at the core of embedded 5G/4G/multimode cellular firmware development within a silicon design group responsible for creating and productizing advanced cellular SoCs. This role requires expertise in all aspects of embedded software development, the ability to thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional environment, openness to debating ideas, and flexibility to adapt to constantly evolving requirements. Description Design, implement and verify Cellular Layer 1 control firmware for an innovative mobile wireless communications system.Develop key scheduling and control algorithms, while meeting strict deadlines, and optimizing code for cycle, latency, and energy efficiency.Collaborate with global teams and colleagues to optimize solutions.Collaborate with other firmware and software designers to define interfaces with RF, physical layer, MAC/RRC, and other required processor subsystems.Study firmware operation timelines, and interactions with different components and make enhancements when necessary. Minimum Qualifications BS and 3+ years of relevant industry experience. Understanding of software engineering principles and core computer science fundamentals. Proficiency in C programming, and source code control tools. Experience in bare metal embedded FW development or Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and parallel computing. Preferred Qualifications

MS or PhD. Hands-on experience in wireless/cellular software or firmware development. Solid understanding of computer architecture with particular emphasis on the HW/SW interfaces of high-speed communication subsystems. Familiar with 4G/5G procedures such as RACH, CDRX, RF Control, SAR and RF Power control, Measurements, time tracking and maintenance, MAC Timers. Understanding of Multi Sim Operation. Digital signal processing and/or radio communications knowledge. Experience with silicon prototyping, emulation systems, and virtual platforms. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
