A law firm seeks a skilled Associate Immigration Attorney to join its team in Orange County, CA. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law to contribute to a growing practice and further their legal career. The position offers the chance to handle a variety of immigration matters while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Duties:
Provide strategic legal counsel to clients regarding immigration issues and processes Represent clients in removal proceedings, including non-detained and detained individuals, before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals Oversee and manage a caseload of diverse immigration matters Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers and provide legal advice Prepare and file immigration petitions, including family-based immigration and removal defense Review and revise immigration applications and forms to ensure they meet legal requirements Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations regarding changes in immigration law Meet with prospective clients to assess their cases and develop strategic legal plans Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings and USCIS interviews Analyze cases to identify benefits or potential challenges in immigration matters Draft legal briefs, motions, and supporting documents for various immigration-related cases Requirements:
1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law Strong ability to manage a caseload and handle complex legal matters independently Proven track record of successfully advancing cases Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and external partners Experience with family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, EOIR matters, detained cases, and citizenship filings Familiarity with case management software is preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school Certifications:
Active membership in the state bar (preferably California) Skills:
Strong understanding of immigration law and its various applications Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Strong legal research, analysis, and drafting skills Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively Team-oriented and able to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment
