As a software triage engineer in Core Audio, you will work cross-functionally across several organizations to help us understand, reproduce and characterize incoming bugs, decide actionable steps, assign to appropriate engineers, and develop new triage methods and tools to solve challenging debug problems. You’ll be working in a dynamic environment, facing exciting new challenges daily. Successful candidates will have strong and methodical debugging/problem-solving skills, deep curiosity, attention to detail, and strong communication for sharing their findings.
Description
This is a high visibility, cross-functional and dynamic role that involves a deep understanding of multiple platforms with components maintained by several teams, as well as elements of what everyone on the teams are working on. It will combine a passion for Audio, strong dedication to product quality and a growing understanding of audio architectures to help focus resources on the right things. Excellent communication and teamwork are a requirement, as you will be asked to work closely with team members and other engineering teams.
Areas of Responsibility:
Screen incoming bugs (understand, reproduce, characterize, and isolate) for our components.
Help triage and prioritize trending issues by reducing them to actionable next steps for escalation to multi-functional team members.
Develop tools/scripts which will assist in efficient triaging of bugs.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong problem solving and debugging skills along with a diligent mindset.
Solid understanding of audio technologies, applications, and real-time audio systems.
Passion for authoring, reproduction or simply having quality audio experiences for any medium (music, movies, games, AR/VR, studio recording, live sound/performance, or communications).
Skills to develop automation tools to help triage high volume of audio issues.
Exemplary written communication skills, and considerate, yet confident personal communication skills.
BS or MS in CS, EE, or related, — or equivalent experience with an emphasis on digital audio technologies.
Key Qualifications
Experience with iOS and macOS SDK and Core Audio development.
Experience with real-time interactive audio engines.
Experience in critical listening and description of sonic artifacts (especially for spatial audio rendering, audio codecs, or communications systems).
Experience in Python or other scripting tools, with working knowledge of C, C++, and Objective-C.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
