As a Senior Principal Architect at JPMorgan Chase within the Cybersecurity and Technology Controls line of business, you provide specialized expertise to influence the target state architecture and strategy. Work across teams to implement and advance the adoption of complex strategic global solutions that give JPMorgan Chase a competitive advantage.
This role will be an integral part of a dynamic team that enables the business to sustain critical operations, through strengthening critical infrastructure and application resiliency. You will leverage your domain expertise to partner and collaborate with cross-functional teams to risk assess critical products & services to ensure system resilience. You will provide technical recommendations to implement solutions that improve and maintain high availability, disaster recovery and restoration of services in proactive preparation and response to plausible disruptive events.
Job Responsibilities
Lead technical risk assessments and after action reviews to identify potential vulnerabilities in infrastructure and operational resiliency. Contribute to root cause analysis for technology incidents to review resiliency designs and strategies, to ensure robust fault tolerance and disaster recovery across systems within cloud and on-premise environments. Collaborate with IT Leadership, platform and product owners, network engineers, site reliability engineers (SREs) and other technology stakeholders to align aspects of resiliency by design and architecture with business resiliency needs. Work closely with cybersecurity teams to ensure resiliency recommendations align with best practices and integrate risk management practices into resiliency architecture and response planning. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in cloud and hyperscale technologies, virtualization, containerization, storage and disaster recovery solutions. Evaluate new technologies to improve availability, recovery and restoration capabilities and mentor technology partners in methodologies for designing and implementing resilient IT solutions. Translate highly complex technical issues, trends, and approaches to leadership to drive the firm's innovation and enable leaders to make strategic, well-informed decisions about target state architecture. Drive adoption and implementation of technical methods in specialized fields in line with the latest product development methodologies. Establish and lead an architecture governance body. Create durable, reusable software frameworks that improve velocity and quality of output across teams and functions. Champion the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect. Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Formal training or certification on architecture concepts and 10+ years applied experience. Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery strategies for large complex IT environments. Proven track record of working with cloud providers (AWS, Azure etc.) and on-premise IT solutions to ensure high availability and resiliency. Strong experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and virtualization technologies (VMWare, Hyper-V) and knowledge of container orchestration, microservices architecture and serverless computing. Proficient in data replication, backup technologies, and clustering techniques and experience with network infrastructure & design, including topologies, protocols and security concepts. Understanding of identity and access management, encryption and other security best practices and familiarity with observability, monitoring and incident response tools. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams and lead discussions and ability to explain complex technical subjects to non-technical stakeholders, and capable of producing clear, detailed and accurate technical documentation. Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability. Demonstrated prior experience influencing across functions and teams to deliver modern architecture. Experience applying expertise and new methods to determine solutions for complex architecture problems across various technical disciplines. Extensive practical cloud native experience. Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field. Knowledge of architecture frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman or FEAF. Demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity and risk management frameworks including experience implementing one of more of the following NIST, CIS, ISO/IEC 27001. CCSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect or similar cloud certifications preferred.
