Addiction Care Program Coordinator

The University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) Department of Medicine is recruiting an Addiction Care Team Program Coordinator for the Division of Hospital Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG). ZSFG is a premier safety-net hospital and trauma center run in partnership by the city of San Francisco and UCSF since 1873. The principal responsibility of the Addiction Care Team Coordinator is to provide high-level program administration for the Addiction Care Team (ACT). Specific responsibilities include oversight of day-to-day program administration and operations, supporting finances, facilitating communication between staff and faculty for our growing multi-site addiction medicine programs, supporting trainees and attendings, clinical scheduling, onboarding staff and providers, supporting our innovative programs, quality improvement, and research, and maintaining relationships with substance use disorder community partners, and ensuring timely and accurate collection of program data. Additional responsibilities may include assisting in patient/family communication (e.g. satisfaction surveys, onboarding for telehealth appointments, follow up phone calls), supporting staff and providers, and event management/planning. The position will have an opportunity to help shape the Addiction Care Team, a rapidly growing and successful clinical program, expanding from hospital-level impact to community. This position will also support the creation and coordination of a directory of community psychosocial services, collaboration with community partners, and building new partnerships via phone calls, emails, and site visits. In addition, this position will assist with operational support of ACT leadership, including creating, implementing, and maintaining workflows based on strategic priorities and patient needs. The incumbent will coordinate and lead quality improvement initiatives, manage ACT educational efforts, including managing events, training, partnership building, research, collaborations and in-services, and lead trainee recruitment with other services and departments for prospective students, residents and fellows to rotate on ACT. This involves creating an agreement with relevant training programs, managing onboarding, and ensuring equitable distribution of rotation slots. In addition, the ACT Coordinator will support ACT Epic needs and serve as primary interface with IT; create SBARs when Epic revisions are needed, support ACT evaluation needs and collaborate with data analyst to ensure patient tracking data is accurate. The incumbent will manage QA for ACT notes, and supervise students responsible for data entry. The coordinator will provide support for team members to carry out quality improvement projects and pursue training in relevant skillsets (e.g. DPH A3 training). Successful candidates will have outstanding organizational and communication skills. A high degree of independence, initiative, assertiveness, and diplomacy are necessary in dealing with faculty, staff and patients in our complex environment. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $75,700 - $123,100 (Annual Rate). Department Description

DHM provides the following clinical services - Medicine/Ward attending, academic/faculty inpatient services, medicine consult, Acute Care for the Elderly, Palliative Care, and Addiction Care Team services. The division is comprised of 26 faculty and 15 staff (including staff physicians). The Addiction Care Team (ACT) is a service for hospitalized patients with substance use disorders. One-third of hospitalized patients at ZSFG have a substance use disorder (SUD). The SUD is infrequently and inconsistently addressed during hospitalization. Our goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based addiction care, focusing on linkage to treatment for people with unhealthy drug, alcohol, and tobacco use. The consult service works with hospital based medical teams to initiate evidenced-based medication treatment for addiction, help diagnose use disorders, provide motivational interviewing and harm reduction to patients, educate staff and providers, and link patients to addiction care. The service is staffed by an attending physician, patient navigators, residents, and addiction medicine fellows. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area and 3+ years of related experience and/or equivalent experience/training Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and/or personnel management Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and/or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees Preferred Qualifications
