Who We Are As part of Cisco’s Security Business Group, the Security Innovation team incubates ideas for the leading provider of network security services, enabling the world to connect with confidence on any device, anywhere, anytime. Our product portfolio includes the cloud delivered firewall, Web proxy, Zero Trust Proxy, NaaS integrations, and inspection services as highly available distributed systems using cloud engineering practices. We are now engineering a highly available distributed security fabric that brings it all together, Cisco Hypershield. Our focus is on offering customer-focused security products at the edge of technology. Who You Are We are seeking a strong developer to drive architecture design, technical requirements definition, and engineering execution. This individual will collaborate with Senior Leadership, Product Management, and Customers to achieve success. The ideal candidate is a well-experienced software engineer with strong foundations in algorithms and data structures. You should enjoy writing code and take pride in rapidly developing features and logical constructs in various backend environments. We’re looking for someone interested in making an impact in the field of network security. At ease in architecture discussions, our Technical Leaders present designs and solutions to multiple teams across organizations, gathering feedback to drive consensus. Creativity is encouraged; we’d like to meet those who use innovative programming languages, technologies, and tools to drive groundbreaking new products. What You Will Do Our Technical Leaders work alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry to build out Cisco’s Hypershield solution. Typical responsibilities include: Provide technical leadership for writing high-quality, production-ready code Bridge communication, control, and processing functions between data and management planes to deliver new end-to-end features Serve as a Subject Matter Expert both internally and externally for Cisco, sharing deep expertise in firewalls, secure web gateways, and/or SASE/SSE. Minimum Qualifications for this Role: 8+ years of programming experience, with at least 3+ years of that experience programming on Linux-based software platforms in Java, Go, or related languages 3+ years working in cloud computing and/or network security solutions Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field Desired Skills & Experience: Hands-on experience writing processes, APIs, and services for control plane functionality in Linux-based environments. Solid programming background in Go, writing libraries, unit tests, strong debugging skills, and familiarity with the build/runtime environment. Experience leveraging security protocols, key management, encryption solutions, or authentication systems Ability to design APIs quickly, securely, and efficiently: gRPC, REST, etc. Ability to develop features around the resources being controlled, such as messaging APIs, centralizing logging, caching, managing tenancy & tokens, and onboarding.
