Deputy Configuration Manager
to serve as assistant to the Ford Class Aircraft Carrier Configuration Manager. This position is in the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05V) at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) located at the Washington Navy Yard. Responsibilities: Provide support to Ford Class aircraft carrier Configuration Manager in the review of change documentation including slides describing the change in detail, specification changes proposals (SCP), Hull Modification Requests (HMR), and Schedule A and B change requests. Candidate must be highly motivated, independent, and self-starter, able to manage their own projects and coordinate the work with multiple engineers. Comfortable managing multiple projects at one time with competing schedules. Coordinate with Systems Engineers, Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, and HII-NNS to resolve system configuration matters. Maintain change documentation and change tracking files correct and current. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering Active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance is required for this position Occasional travel may be required for this position Bachelor’s degree and 4 years’ experience in the configuration management field. Configuration Management experience in ship systems working with or at a shipyard, Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Center, Supervisor of Shipbuilding Command, Regional Maintenance Center, and/or Type Commander supporting construction, operation, maintenance, modernization, and/or repair of machinery control systems. Experience working with technical authority. Experience working with ship program offices in a technical role. Previous carrier or alternate navy ship/submarine technical experience. Good technical writing and communication skills. Strong writing and communication skills. Good interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicant must be able to work independently and/or as part of a team.
