Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing audits, preparing and reconciling ledgers, and preparing financial statements. This role involves managing subordinate accountants, processing transactions and invoices, and solving complex accounting and financial problems. The Senior Accountant will also advise on managerial accounting issues and perform various costing analyses.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting : Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulations. Develop accounts payable metrics.
Financial Analysis : Analyze financial data and present findings. Develop reports related to Fleet and Wex card data.
Audit Support : Assist with audits, provide documentation, and maintain internal controls.
Cost Accounting : Perform cost analysis and reconcile ledger accounts.
Policy Development : Create procedures for accounts payable processes, ensuring federal guideline alignment.
Payment Support Services : Process invoices and demand notices, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
Team Collaboration : Work with various divisions and agencies, providing financial insights.
Training and Mentorship : Mentor junior staff and provide training on financial systems.
Travel and Relocation Support : Assist with travel policy, process travel vouchers, and manage relocation processes.
Administrative Support : Provide administrative assistance, including document management and support for training initiatives.
Miscellaneous :
Generate and maintain monthly billing reports for IPAC transactions. Prepare and analyze Treasury reports and financial statements. Perform regular reconciliations of cash and budgetary accounts, addressing discrepancies and preparing accruals. Monitor unliquidated obligations and provide quarterly reports to management.
Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification such as: CPA, CMA, or MBA. Demonstrated expertise in business law, cost accounting, and computerized accounting systems may substitute for certification. 8-10 years of comprehensive experience in Federal accounting, auditing, financial analysis, and financial operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and advanced data analysis techniques. Familiarity with Momentum-based systems, particularly the Unified Financial Management System (UFMS) and Treasury Secure Payment System. Preferred Skills Strong organizational and time management skills. Detail oriented and self-starter. Capability to work in a team environment, as well as independently. Ability to maintain a positive relationship with customers and other vendors. Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies. Possess motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that demonstrate value.
