Research Lab Technician III
to join the laboratory of Dr. Hussein Yassine in the Department of Neurology. This is a full-time position. The Research Lab Technician III will assist faculty with research studies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Supervise unit employees and/or student workers, as assigned. Assist in recruitment, screening, hiring, orientation and training of unit staff. Evaluate employee performance and provide guidance and feedback. Counsel or discipline supervised employees, as required. Recommend stronger disciplinary action or terminate employees, if so assigned. Plan and conduct research experiments in accordance with laboratory and safety protocols. Independently perform non-routine and complex research laboratory procedures and techniques. Maintain accurate records of procedures used to conduct experiments. Provide analyses and interpretations of results for review by supervisor. Research, compile and evaluate background information to enhance planning and design of experiments. Stay current in field of research to contribute to research planning and design activities and equipment planning. May contribute to the writing of technical papers. Provide input and updates on progress of research and make recommendations for modification as appropriate. Select, modify, or adapt equipment and procedures to specific research needs. Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory and scientific equipment. Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform standard repairs. Control equipment and supplies inventory. Recommend purchase, locate sources of supply, negotiate prices, and order equipment and supplies for funded research, proposals, graduate research and student labs. Maintain vendor contacts and backup purchase documentation files for reference or reporting, as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time. The salary range for this position is $31.44 - $36.34 per hour.
