The IT Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Information Technology department by assisting with various tasks and projects. This role offers a valuable opportunity for hands-on experience in a professional IT environment, allowing the intern to gain practical knowledge and develop technical skills. The intern will work closely with IT professionals and gain exposure to different aspects of IT operations.
What You'll Do
Technical Support: Provide assistance to end-users by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues. Help users with software installations, updates, and basic technical problems. Help Desk Operations: Respond to user inquiries and service requests, log issues in the ticketing system, and escalate complex problems to senior IT staff when necessary. System Administration: Assist in the maintenance and administration of IT systems, including user account management, access controls, and data backup processes. Network Management: Assist with network monitoring, basic configuration tasks, and troubleshooting network connectivity issues. Hardware Maintenance: Help with the setup, installation, and maintenance of computer hardware, peripherals, and other IT equipment. Software Support: Aid in the deployment and management of software applications, updates, and patches. Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for IT processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. IT Projects: Collaborate with IT team members on various projects, such as system upgrades, software rollouts, and infrastructure improvements. Cybersecurity: Assist in implementing and maintaining cybersecurity measures, including antivirus software, firewalls, and user awareness campaigns. Research: Stay updated on the latest IT trends, technologies, and best practices to contribute to the continuous improvement of IT operations. Who You Are
Current enrollment in a relevant degree program (Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field) or recent graduation. Strong interest in IT and a willingness to learn new technologies. Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts. Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving. Effective communication skills and a customer service mindset. Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other common software applications. Any relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals) are a plus.
Duration
This internship position is a 10-week program, starting May 2025. The exact duration can be discussed during the interview process.
Location
The internship will be based at our Carol Stream office.
Hourly Rate Range:
$20 - $24 per hour
