The University of Miami has a great opportunity for a Director, Facilities Planning & Construction to work at the Coral Gables Campus.
The Director, Facilities Planning and Construction (A) oversees all institutional construction activities and ensures optimal functioning of facility systems. Specifically, the Director, Facilities Planning and Construction (A) executes all facets of new construction and renovation projects.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Establishes and coordinates all projects including instituting a design and construction plan that meets budget and time constraints. Collaborates with external sources and contractors to ensure that all construction projects are completed on time and within budget parameters. Administers construction budget, and approves expenditures. Develops and presents to senior management the background and rationale for vendor selection, procurement options and budget requests. Serves as point of contact to staff, departments, and the community on issues of facility planning and construction. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Knowledge of business and management principles. Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations. Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan. Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others. Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others. Commitment to the University's core values.
