POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Pepperdine Counseling Center directors and URM Director of Transformation Program-CLDP, the coordinator performs office operations concerned with files/filing, scheduling, recording, event planning and assisting CLDP and clinical staff. The coordinator also does outreach to URM residents and staff to increase awareness of Counseling Center services and programs.

MENTAL HEALTH OFFICE COORDINATOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Schedule clients, initiate forms and paperwork for new clients, obtain needed signatures from clients, and handle confidential files according to HIPAA regulations. Complete HIPAA compliance training as required for a psychological services center. Coordinate with the center directors to provide administrative support in assigning clients to therapists. Work alongside the CLDP Director of Transformation Program to event plan, record outcomes in Mission Tracker, and coordinate various office functions. Schedule counseling rooms for intern therapists, assist intern therapists with basic office needs and procedures. Coordinate communication of messages received from telephone, email, and paper copy for intern therapists and Pepperdine program supervisors and directors. Compile statistics and prepare summary reports for accurate reporting to Counseling Center Directors and URM program administration to support program goals. Maintain office in an organized and professional manner. Coordinate office functions for CLDP and Pepperdine computer use, fax use, etc. Contact security to assist with escorting clients to/from the Counseling Center as needed. Conduct all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner. Meet regularly with Counseling Center Directors and Director of Transformation Program. Help establish and maintain a welcoming, positive, and supportive environment. Conduct other tasks and projects as assigned by the Director of Transformation Program. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURES:

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum of 1 year experience, preferably working in the realm of health care. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats. Proficiency in Microsoft office programs. Calm, consistent, and flexible disposition to work with clients who are often in recovery from trauma, addiction, and/or mental disorders and can pose complex challenges. Ability to keep client confidentiality and not disclose any client information to others. Bilingual English/Spanish speaking a plus. Required Hours: Mondays and Fridays, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Salary Description

$20 - $22.40 (depending on experience)
