Position Summary
The Manager of Origination & Structuring will lead power marketing, project development, and transaction support activities across multiple regions. This role includes responsibility for overseeing proposals, financial modeling, strategic planning, and market outreach, with a strong focus on originating, negotiating, and executing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). The Manager will also mentor team members, build relationships with key stakeholders, and drive origination strategies to support the company's growth objectives in regulated and deregulated markets. Strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills are essential.
Responsibilities
Originate and develop power offtake opportunities by conducting market research and engaging with potential customers. Focus on Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), energy, capacity, ancillary services, and environmental attribute contracts. Lead market analysis to identify emerging opportunities across wholesale power markets, including regulated and unregulated regions such as CAISO, WECC, PNW, and Canada. Manage the origination and development of solar and storage projects, with a focus on structuring and closing transactions. Lead cross-functional project teams, collaborating with legal, finance, and technical departments to ensure smooth project development. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including utilities, Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs), investors, and customers. Represent the company in contract negotiations and ensure alignment with the company's strategic goals. Mentor and guide junior team members, promoting a collaborative, high-performance team environment. Provide leadership in regional markets, particularly CAISO and WECC, and actively contribute to company-wide strategy and business development. Negotiate and close PPAs, power swaps, and other energy-related contracts. Provide expert analysis on market conditions and PPA structures to optimize contract terms and align with business objectives. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. 3-5+ years of experience in a similar role. Deep understanding of U.S. power markets, with the ability to assess, analyze, and provide strategic insights into shifting market trends and conditions. Strong knowledge of RTO operations, electric transmission, and power generation and storage technologies. Proven track record of success in development, sales, or business development roles within the clean energy sector. Established network of commercial and industrial customer relationships, with the ability to build and maintain strong partnerships. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with significant experience preparing proposals and delivering presentations. Hands-on experience leading the analysis of contracts and overseeing the submission of proposals. Extensive experience in structuring and negotiating complex agreements.
