General Description:
Under general direction of Pediatric Trauma Program Manager, is responsible for the overall planning and development of the Pediatric Trauma Injury Prevention Program for the OU Health Trauma Program/Oklahoma Children's Hospital.

Leads the Safe Kids OKC Metro Coalition; maintains coalition requirements/documentation as part of Safe Kids World Wide/Safe Kids Oklahoma; includes leading Safe Kids OKC Metro Coalition meetings as scheduled. Leads the Oklahoma Children's Hospital car seat check program; maintains current car seat check schedule; coordinates additional CPS techs, places car seat order, etc. Will maintain status as a Child Passenger Safety Tech (CPS Tech); required after hire Has working knowledge of the American College of Surgeons and Oklahoma State Department of Health Trauma Care standards Ensures compliance with American College of Surgeons and Oklahoma State Department of Health Injury Prevention Standards and maintains documentation to support such compliance Coordinate development, implementation and management of injury prevention programs, strategies, initiatives and campaigns including materials and resources as needed. Utilize injury information, studies, reports, trauma registry data and local/state statistics to identify community needs to develop relevant injury prevention strategies and interventions. Assist with the outreach effort and education presentation to enhance relationships with referring hospitals, first responders, EMS providers and service community. Collaborate with existing national, regional, state and local injury prevention programs. Participate in presentation and publication of trauma injury prevention data. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate patient care for assigned pediatric injury prevention activities based on priorities identified by the Trauma Registry data Assist with trauma research projects. Conduct data collection and statistical analysis as requested. Collaborate with OUMC Trauma Division in design and data collection regarding injury prevention projects and outcome evaluation. Educates pediatric patients and family members on injury prevention topics while inpatient

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing, epidemiology, public health or related field is required. Advanced degree (Masters) is preferred.
Experience: At least 3 years' experience in
nursing, epidemiology, public health or related field.
Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: If Bachelor's degree in nursing, must have a current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)
BLS (American Heart Association) required upon hire. Child Passenger Safety Tech (CPS) within 6 month of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Computer and database skills including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills with self-
direction. Knowledge of relevant medical practices and processes. Knowledge or principles and practices of the trauma registry and trauma performance improvement process. Ability to work effectively in a team. Also requires the ability to work on a variety of projects at the same time requiring skill at multi-tasking. Strong time management and organizational skills a must. #CB
