Summary:
Meta is seeking Visiting Researchers through a short-term contract to join Meta AI. About Meta AI: We are committed to advancing the field of artificial intelligence by making fundamental advances in scientific methods and technologies to help interact with and understand our world. We are seeking individuals passionate in areas such as deep learning, computer vision, audio and speech processing, natural language processing, machine learning, reinforcement learning, and computational statistics. This position is short-term employment for PhD students enrolled at the University of Washington, Carnegie Mellon University, University of California, Berkeley, or New York University’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (CIMS) or Center for Data Science (CDS). Students will work in collaboration with Meta and their university for the duration of the 1-2 year program. Students will be expected to work onsite at a Meta office near their university. The AI Mentorship Program will begin fall 2025. Participants will work part-time during the academic school year and full-time over the summer break.

Visiting Researcher, AI Mentorship Program (PhD) Responsibilities:
Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent systems.
Perform research that improves computational understanding and representation of data.
Devise data-driven models of human behavior.
Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications.
Collaborate and increase productivity on existing research projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in a technical field such as Computer Science from the University of Washington, Carnegie Mellon University, University of California, Berkeley, or New York University’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (CIMS) or Center for Data Science (CDS).
Research experience in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Optimization, Speech, Safety & Alignment, Embodied AI, Recommendation Systems, Large Language Models, RAG, Graph/Sequence learning, User/Content Understanding, or Distributed Training.
Experience with Python, Lua, C++, C, C# and/or Java.
Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience building systems based on machine learning and/or deep learning methods.
Research and software engineer experience demonstrated via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or open-source contributions.
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by publications at leading workshops or conferences.
Public Compensation:
$56.25/hour to $137,000/year + benefits
