Job Summary
Tenure-track position in Pastoral Care and Formation at Bethel Seminary St. Paul. Academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. Director of the Doctor of Ministry program.
Responsibilities
Pastoral Care Faculty Responsibilities:
Teach a full-time load (six 4-semester hour courses or equivalent per academic year). Teaching assignments include Pastoral Care and Spiritual and Personal Formation, in both in-person and online delivery systems, as well as electives and other courses in these disciplines. Attend faculty meetings Mentor students Participate in committee work
Doctor of Ministry Program Director Responsibilities:
Lead and represent the Doctor of Ministry program both internally and externally Recruit and admit students into the program in collaboration with the Office of Admissions Assign advisors and readers for every student in the thesis phase of the program and schedule and chair thesis defenses Oversee the creation of the schedule for each academic year Be present to host, and be on-call for the two intensive weeks each year Update the DMin Manual annually
Skills
Candidates should be capable of inspiring teaching, scholarship, and service to the university. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to engage students actively and to contribute to an intercultural learning community both in a classroom and online. Candidates should be eager to teach pastoral care and spiritual and personal formation in a seminary context and to integrate spiritual and personal formation with biblical content and exegesis and transformational ministry leadership. Candidates must agree with the Bethel University Affirmation of Faith, and agree with and live by the Covenant for Life Together. Candidates are expected to become members of a Converge Church. Candidates should be well organized and able to administer a program effectively.
Experience
Ideal candidate will have experience in professional ministry in pastoral care and/or spiritual formation, success in instruction of pastoral care and/or spiritual and personal formation, ministry leadership involvement, and relevant intercultural experience. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience in successfully leading a complex organization or program.
Education
Ph.D. or DMin in pastoral care or spiritual formation or closely related field. (Strong candidates who are ABD may be considered.) Ministry or Bible-related master's degree required; MDiv preferred.
