Position Dimensions and Impact to the University:

The Assistant Dean of Strategic Financial Management serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the University of Washington School of Nursing. This senior leadership position is responsible for the strategic oversight, management, and direction of all financial operations within the School. The Assistant Dean will work closely with the Dean, senior leadership, and key stakeholders to ensure financial sustainability and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Strategy and Planning (25%):
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy that aligns with the School of Nursing’s strategic goals.
    • Lead long-term financial planning and forecasting efforts.
    • Advise the Dean and senior leadership on financial matters.
    • Develop and maintain academic program revenue projection models.
  2. Budget Management and Resource Allocation (25%):
    • Oversee planning, management, and accounting for the School’s resources.
    • Ensure budgetary processes are transparent and aligned with strategic priorities.
    • Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports.
  3. Financial Operations and Compliance (25%):
    • Responsible for all financial operations, including accounting and financial reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with university policies and regulations.
    • Identify and mitigate financial risks.
  4. Leadership and Team Development (25%):
    • Serve as a key member of the School’s leadership team.
    • Collaborate with leaders to support financial needs.
    • Lead and manage the School’s finance team.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 4-5 years of demonstrated experience with financial stewardship.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in higher education or nonprofit setting.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements.
