Job Summary

This hybrid role involves designing user-centric interfaces, producing mockups and prototypes, and bringing them to life in code. You'll be essential in ensuring our products not only look and feel great but also deliver the highest standards of functionality and performance.

Salary range $150,000-$180,000 (actual salary offered to a candidate within this range will depend on a variety of factors including relative levels of experience and education, years in this or essentially similar role, market competition, etc.)

Job Summary

You'll be essential in ensuring our products not only look and feel great but also deliver the highest standards of functionality and performance.
What you will do
UX Design:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand user needs and business goals, translating them into wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs
- Develop mockups using design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc.) and gather feedback to refine them
- Apply UX principles to create interfaces that enhance user satisfaction and engagement.
- Provide UI development teams guidance on adherence to accessibility standards (ADA, WCAG)
- Build and implement high-quality UI components using React, TypeScript, and Sass, ensuring alignment with design specifications
- Integrate frontend components with GraphQL endpoints via Apollo Client for efficient data handling
- Maintain and enhance our styling framework in Sass, prioritizing scalability and visual consistency
- Work closely with product managers, backend developers, and designers to iterate on design and functionality, creating a seamless experience from ideation to execution
- Participate in design critiques and technical reviews, contributing to Vercara's culture of continuous improvement
- Optimize UI for performance, accessibility, and scalability across multiple devices and screen sizes
- Conduct usability testing and incorporate user feedback to refine features and designs
- Ensure high standards of code quality through regular testing and refactoring
- 3+ years' experience in a hybrid UX/frontend engineering role, or equivalent experience across both areas
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and CSS/Sass for implementing responsive and accessible user interfaces
- Experience with GraphQL and Apollo Client for data integration
- Solid experience with design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and the ability to create both low- and high-fidelity mockups
- Strong understanding of UX principles, information architecture, and user-centered design
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards and best practices
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Detail-oriented, with a strong sense of visual design and technical implementation
- Ability to work autonomously and take initiative in both design and engineering tasks
- Experience with design systems and reusable component libraries is a plus
- Knowledge of modern front-end testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library) is a plus
