The Senior Business Intelligence Architect will be responsible for database architecture, design, and implementation for the new Federal EAP Data Warehouse. The ideal candidate will thrive in collaborative environments, capable of managing a dynamic data environment still in infancy with significant growth soon. The candidate should have experience architecting modern business intelligence products using cloud-native development strategies in AWS Redshift / S3. Medallion architecture experience is a plus. This person will be responsible for ingestion strategies, storage strategies, data model design, and data processing logic, while ensuring that our solution adheres to broader Magellan Data principles and architectures. The candidate will lead and mentor other developers, providing leadership to our data team and guidance and coaching towards best practices and consistent solution approaches. Above all else, the candidate will act as a servant leader, supporting the development team and the organization with authenticity, integrity, and empathy.

This is a remote position, but remote from the greater Dallas area.

Responsible for activities relating to governance and standards for the creation of business intelligence, data analytics, and data visualization solutions that are rooted in sound architectural principles and technical standards, which result in powerful, feature rich solutions that both empower and enable business users to have ready access to key information critical to our business.

Influences the technology road map for business intelligence solutions and supporting technologies, in terms of 30, 60, 90 day plans and longer 1, 3, 5 year plans; including, the as-is, to-be, and investment plan detail. Establishes and maintains relations with various partner teams in areas such as data modeling, data management, and infrastructure architecture to ensure the Business Intelligence and Analytics organization is equipped to meet business needs both current and future. Assists vendor relations including, contract negotiations, license configurations and renewal, Proof Of Concept exercises, and managing vendor contacts for sales and technical support. Provides internal consultative services in both the design and development activities. Mentors and trains less experienced staff. Maintains standards and architectural best practices related to installation, development, design, configuration and use of business intelligence and analytics solutions. Enforces the use of standards, approval of deviations from standards, and ongoing improvements to those standards. Ensures all related systems are within compliance in terms of versioning, vulnerability, audit, and security. Partners with designers, developers, and solution architects to identify, research, and resolve technical challenges throughout the data life cycle with a focus on reporting and analytics impacts. Continually improves one's own understanding of technical concepts, practices, and procedures, staying abreast of technical innovations in related fields. Provides administrative support for business intelligence systems. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Job Requirements

Responsibilities 7+ years of work in business intelligence (BI) or related discipline in employment or volunteer activities. A bachelor's degree in business intelligence, management information systems, mathematics, statistics, analytics, computer and information sciences or similar is required. May substitute an additional 10 or more years of direct experience in system architecture, business intelligence, data analytics or statistics in lieu of a bachelor's degree. Working knowledge of a broad range of business intelligence, analytics, and data visualization technologies. In-depth experience with at least three of the following: Cognos, SAS, R, SSRS, SPSS, Tableau, QlikView/QlikSense, QuickSight, Motio -- with an aptitude and interest towards expanding in-depth experience to include more and more technologies over time. Working knowledge of a broad range of database/data storage technologies and/or Massively Parallel processing solutions. In-depth experience with at least three of the following: SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Netezza/DB2, RedShift, Teradata, Aurora, Hadoop - with an aptitude and interest towards expanding in-depth experience to include more and more technologies over time. Working knowledge of data architecture, modeling in both Inmon and Kimball principles as well as emerging trends in data architecture and management, such as big data solutions. Strong working knowledge of the data life cycle, from the source systems, various acquisition methods and concepts (CDC), transformation (ETL/ELT), warehousing, datamarts, and ultimately reporting. The ability to quickly assess new technologies and concepts to determine if additional investment is justified. Prior experience in the roles this position is intended to support including, report development, requirements elicitation, database design and modeling, testing, framework management, etc. Demonstrated ability to leverage Business Intelligence and data visualization tools to deliver business value. Experience with Publications and Professional BLOGs. Technical certifications such as those offered by Microsoft, IBM, or SAS. Disciplinary certifications, such as Scrum, Project Management Institute (PMI), Business Analyst certifications. Experience with making presentations at public forums or professional conferences.

Salary Range

Salary Minimum: $105,230 Salary Maximum: $178,890

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
